OPEN AIR SHELTER & RED COLLAR PROJECT INFORMATION
Because of the 200,000 + homeless dogs in Puerto Rico, Island Dog created the Red Collar Project. This project helps protect, feed, medicate, and cares for over 200 dogs daily in our 6 open air shelter locations. All dogs living in these locations are vaccinated, tagged, and spayed/neutered. We post the adoptable dogs from each of our open air shelters on our web site so that they may find their new forever home. Many tourists visit our designated areas and fall in love with our dogs, taking home with them a VERY unique souvenir, an Island Dog! The "true island dogs," who are not domesticated, will live out their lives in our protected areas healthy, happy, and loved, thanks to our many volunteers and your donations.
